AGU takes active role in supporting our Earth and space science community during funding uncertainty
Posted by Caitlin Bergstrom
This year has been challenging for the science community. After already experiencing illegal reductions-in-force of federal scientists and cuts to grant funding, we are now in the midst an unprecedented government shutdown. The essential work of agencies like NOAA, NASA, and USGS are now in limbo as we wait for Congress and the Administration to reach an agreement to reopen the government. Still, AGU and our community are stepping up to fight for science. See how we are taking action this fall and how you can join:
The Day of Action to Save NASA Science October 5th & 6th, 2025
In response to the record attacks on NASA’s science activities in the FY 2026 budget proposal, AGU, The Planetary Society, the American Astronomical Society and 17 other partner organizations are holding a joint Day of Action on October 5th and 6th in Washington, D.C. Read more at the Planetary Societies blog.
You can action from home by calling on Congress to end the government shutdown and fully fund science agencies like NASA:
